Regular section

In the regular section of Athene Elementary School, inter-grade learning (JÜL) takes place in the first and second grades (SAPH – Schulanfangsphase). At the end of the first and second year of school attendance, all students receive a report card in the form of a verbal assessment. In grades 3 and 4, parents and teachers consult and decide together on a new verbal assessment or a report card with grades. Starting in grade 3, report cards are also given at mid-term.

Starting in grade 3, English is taught as the first foreign language with two lessons per week. The children also go swimming as part of the physical education program. In the fourth grade, traffic education is taught as one of the main subjects in the science lessons, with the goal of passing the bicycle test.

In the fifth grade, social studies and science are added to the curriculum. In grades 5 and 6, 2 hours a week of “social learning” (focus education) are on the schedule.

Elementary school ends with the 6th grade and the transition to high school.

Our cooperation partner “Nachbarschaftsheim Mittelhof e.V.” takes care of the students from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the rooms of the children’s house ATHENE. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the school. The VHG is free of charge. Additional care modules before and after the VHG time as well as during the vacations are possible. They must be applied for and are subject to a fee.

A warm lunch is served in the school canteen and in the rooms of the ATHENE children’s house and is also possible for students who do not participate in the supplementary childcare program. This requires the conclusion of a private contract with our food company.
